Lionheart's E3 2016 Highlights: Microsoft!

Hello everyone, today is Monday June 13th, and E3 2016 is here! Every year, know matter what I have going on or where I may be, I put everything aside to engage in E3 madness. Today I am happy to say, I have the ability to share my thoughts w/ you guys and gals on what stood out to me this year from E3. Starting w/ Microsoft's conference, the way to describe this showcasing of new games and technology is "Oh My GOD"! Coming from a PlayStation guy (who used to be on Xbox mind you), I have to say I am impressed. For this Microsoft section of this post, I will be discussing my thoughts on; the Xbox One S, Gears of War 4, SCALEBOUND, Final Fantasy XV, and the stand alone card game Gwent!

Similar to Microsoft, I would like to show you guys the Xbox One S again. So very quickly let's watch the reveal of the Xbox One S together, because everything else mentioned here will be based off of this trailer.

With the edition of this new hardware, which releases this August by the way, has opened new possibilities for Lionheart Gaming. As of today, I have made up my mind to purchase this beautiful piece of hardware in the near future. I have several reasons as to why, I'm not bandwagon hopping or being a fan boy.. Nothing silly like that, because as I stated previously I used to be a very committed Xbox player before I made my switch to PlayStation. Seeing this trailer, I was reminded about my first time seeing an Xbox at one of my good friends house. He was showing me 'Assassin's Creed' for the first time, back in 2007! So for me, to see Xbox evolve this much since than was really heart warming. But that wasn't what sold me, some of the things revealed throughout this conference is what persuaded me to make this decision.

Now, I'm going to break the order a bit here so please bare w/ me everyone. I am a firm believer of "hit em hard, hit em fast, and hit em good" meaning I will be showing you my favorite experience first vs last. What does that mean for you as a reader? It means you are about to see some new Scalebound Gameplay! Yaaayyyyyyy!!!! Lol, sorry guys I couldn't resist. Take a look at what, I for one, was happy to see.

Now let's talk a little bit about Scalebound. For those of you that may be seeing this for the first time, Scalebound is an Action Role-Playing-Game which is being developed by Platinum Games. You will be playing as Drew (the guy shown in the video above, w/ the beats headset) who will be accompanied by his Dragon Thuban throughout your playthrough. If you're seeing this for the first time you may not be aware that Thuban's appearance as well as his abilities can be customized, as well as Thuban can be issued different commands by his tamer Drew. As for Drew, he will have access to both ranged and melee weapons. In the demo above, I was very happy to see Drew using a Bow and Arrow, but for people who love Guns fear not because Guns are confirmed to be in this game as well. However, the game is said to not have a crafting system.. The weapons you acquire will probably be found, purchased, or taken off of enemies you defeat. Lastly I will like to point of, I was very happy to see that Scalebound supports 4 player Co-Op! That is pretty damn amazing, and I look forward to joining some friends in the fantasy world of Scalebound in 2017.

Moving on to the next big, fantasy game of the show. Final Fantasy XV! Which is currently receiving all kinds of missed reviews from the demo shown during this conference. I don't really understand as to why that is, maybe because the person playing the demo got slapped around. Or maybe people just really don't like the way the game looks? I for one, had no issues w/ the content that was displayed. For several reasons, one being that I got to witness Noctis take on this gigantic Titan thingy. Like, do you guys see this?

The creature is massive, the game looks good in my opinion, the MUSIC! The music is fantastic, seriously.. How can you not be in love with this? The battle seems to be very challenging, it introduces some sort of ice magic or ice bomb thing that hasn't been seen before and it just gives us that extra bit of hype before we can get our hands on title this September 30th.

Moving on to a title I don't really play that much, but I can appreciate how far it has come in it's franchise. Very briefly I will be congratulating 'Gears Of War 4' on making it this fear into it's series, Gears 4 looks great and for people that are into this franchise but may have missed it's showcasing, here it is.

Moving on to something that took me by surprise. I am a big 'The Witcher' fan, so when they announced that the card mini game featured in 'The Witcher 3' is getting a stand alone game.. I lost it! Lol, I love games like Yu-Gi-Oh, Duel Masters, and Magic The Gathering so seeing Gwent get a stand alone game was definitely exciting. I will gladly welcome Gwent into my library of games, and I will happy challenge anyone on my friends list foolish enough to challenge me. Here is another look at the Gwent reveal trailer!

Ladies and Gentlemen, thank you so much for taking time out to read this blog. All video footage is from the IGN, I always watch E3 w/ IGN and if you aren't able to watch E3 live I encourage you to view all footage you miss over at IGN's. Please let me know you how you feel about Microsoft's press conference? What are your thoughts on the Xbox One S? The Xbox Scorpio, Forza Horizon 3, the Reckon game? I love hearing what you guys have to say. I will be posting my thoughts on Sony's press conference bright and early tomorrow morning, so stay tuned for that! See you guys :)

P.S. - I apologize for any grammatical errors

  1. The One S is interesting, outputs video in 4K, whereas the Scorpio appears to output everything in 4k(?) and is more powerful, so the One S and One have a lifespan of 1 year...(?) That's the impression I'm getting.

FFXVI gets dissed alot because everytime they demo it you just see Noct getting his ass kicked and falling over. A lot. Which isn't fun gameplay. Either that's the gameplay or they need someone more adept to play it for audiences.

The lead character of Scalebound is a little annoying but I'm sure the actual gameplay will be awesome.

The highlight for me? Forza Horizon 3, looked absolutely gorgeous and most importantly a lot of fun.

I'll need more info on Scorpio before I make any commitment, like is it next gen or is it just an upgrade for 4k/VR? What kind of storage does it offer? (2TB just isn't enough for me). But if the answers are pleasing then I might jump back over :)

    1. For me, I will definitely purchase the Xbox One S since I do not have one at all. And I really believe that FFXV is just a hard game to play, the episode Duscae demo was pretty brutal. If you see my gameplay for that demo I died a few times, so I'm going w/ your input on needing a better player to demo for us.

Forza is heaven so that goes w/ out saying, and yes Drew is rather annoying but I'm sure it'll be not so bad when you actually play. But I have to say, I'm more interested in what Sony has to offer >_>
