Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth

I can not express how amp'd I am for this title. Growing up one of my favorite TV shows was Digimon Adventures, which first aired in the US on August 14, 1999 via Fox Kids. Ever since then I have been a huge Digimon fan, keeping up with the series since my early childhood. Around 2011, Digimon had a total of up to 6 series since it's 1999 release, the list of entries in the series go as followed: Digimon Adventures, Digimon Adventures 02 (my personal favorite), Digimon Tamers, Digimon Frontier, Digimon Data Squad, and lastly Digimon Xros Wars. There has also been a total of 9 movies that have been released along with the different generations of the Digimon series, sadly I have only seen the first 5.

I've never been a fan of the recent Digimon games as they normally do not do the series any Justice. It takes trial and error to create a masterpiece, and after many trials and many errors Namco Bandai has finally created a Masterpiece. The upcoming title Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita platforms will be released here in the US on 02/02/2016.
"Lionheart, how can you say the game is a masterpiece if it hasn't been released yet?"

Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth is the fifth entry in the Digimon Story series. and was released in Japan on March 12th, 2015. A youtuber by the name of "GadgetGirlKylie" released the start of a walkthrough for the Japanese version of the game back in September 2015. Curious, I watched a few of her videos to get an idea of the story and gameplay for this title, and my curiosity was satisfied. The game takes to a dungeon crawler style rpg, you can pick between a male or female character, the combat is turned based and has a great resemblance to the Pokemon series style of combat, and the amount of content the game provides is amazing. Old favorites like Agumon and Veemon are in the game, you can Digivolve your Digimon which increases their power and appearances, I believe you can breed Digimon as well. And if you pre-order this title from Gamestop you'll be giving access to the BlackAgumon and BlackGabumon dlc as well as other pre-order bonuses

If you aren't into turned based or dungeon crawler styled RPG's then I have to say Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth might not be for you. However, if you can appreciate a great story packed with hours and hours of content then I humbly suggest you give this title a chance. You can easily spend 80 - 100 hours in this game trying to capture and Digivolve all of the Digimon. I will be providing a playthrough of the English version of the game on my youtube channel, where I will be covering all of the games content from start to finish.

My thoughts on the upcoming title - Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth

  1. The fact that you said it resembles Hyperdimension Neptunia's combat system alone interested me. Then there is the breeding and how it's a dungeon crawler rpg, which pulled me in more. Most definitely checking this title out. =(^,.,^)=

    1. Glad you plan to check it out. And yes, as far as gameplay goes it's pretty similar. It lacks the sense of humor as it goes for a more dark story.
