And just like that, my life had been changed forever. I could never win against my Mother no matter how hard I tried, and it was frustrating. My level 60 Venasaur (Bulbasaur's final evolution) was no match for her level 99 Blastoise skilled in the art of the Ice Beam attack (Venasaur is a grass pokemon, Blastoise is a water pokemon. Water pokemon can learn ice attacks, while grass trumps water / ice trumps grass). Neither were my other remaining 5 pokemon I was allowed to carry in my team of 6. My whole roster of powerful pokemon, strong enough to beat the Elite Four, wiped out by a single Blastoise. You can imagine my frustration, but with every defeat a fire began to manifest in my soul. I swore that I'd eventually collect all 150 pokemon in the pokedex, raise them all to level 99, and defeat my Mother. And I did, around the time Pokemon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition was released in October of 1999. By this time, I had become a battle hardened, professional Pokemon Master. My mind was equipped with knowledge of every element and type of pokemon, their strengths and weakens, which battle moves each and every pokemon could learm. I even memorized which routes which pokemon could be found, and at what levels.
And thus, a gamer was born.
Okay, so what's up with this "Scar Lionheart" stuff? How did you come up with that name for yourself?
Well, as I stated above, when I received my copy of Pokemon Blue I named myself "Ash." Following after the lead character's name in the Pokemon Anime TV series. However, that is MY name, that's HIS name. I ventured out to become a Pokemon Master, I beat all 8 Pokemon Gyms, I beat the Elite Four, I beat the Champion of the Elite Four, and I was entered into the Hall Of Fame. Yet the person's name who was recorded into the Hall Of Fame was "Ash" and not myself. So as I got older and starting playing later additions to the Pokemon franchise, I began nicknaming my characters, trying to brand myself.
Ah, I got cha. But hey, that doesn't really answer my question as to how you can up with that name in particular.
I'm getting to that, be patience.
So anyway, with the arrival of Pokemon Diamond & Pearl on Nintendo's new Nintendo DS System (Gameboy > Gameboy Color > Gameboy Advanced > Gameboy Advanced SP > Nintendo DS), came the arrival of a new way to interact with other people who enjoy playing the Pokemon franchise. By connecting your Nintendo DS System to the Internet, you were able to battle Pokemon players from across the world, provided you had their friend code. Putting all my skills and knowledge to the test, challenging players far and wide, I noticed everyone had something I was lacking. Individuality. Every time I battled or traded Pokemon with someone new, I noticed everyone had a "name" for themselves. Rather they named themselves something from their favorite TV or Anime, used a childhood nickname, or their real names. Every one had their own identity, they know who they were and who they wanted others to know them as. So I asked myself, "who do I want people to know me as?" Which lead to a lot of self analysis's, and after some intense research I realized who I was, and what I was. I'm a Leo, and to my surprise I love cats and lions, so I wanted my name to represent such. "Lionheart" is what I came up with when I was asked to create a username for myself on Xbox 360 in August of 2008. Unfortunately, the name was already taken, and that's where the Scar comes into play. I was watching my favorite Anime series Rurouni Kenshin and I was listening to him explain to Kaoru how he had gotten the cross shaped scar on his cheek, and at the moment I had decided a name for myself. "Scar Lionheart."
Nice! What an interestingly background story. So tell me Mr. Lionheart, why should people subscribe to your YouTube channel? What's different about your channel vs everyone else? You don't even do commentary, what can your channel offer me that I cannot get elsewhere?
Hmm, whats differrent about my channel vs everyone else?
My channel has a core focus, I will be uploading gameplay from the following type of games: Action RPG (Role-Playing-Games), J-RPG (Japanese Role-Playing-Games), S-RPG & J-S-RPG (Strategy Role-Playing-Games, Japanese Strategy Role-Playing-Games), and every once in awhile you'll see something like Destiny, Tom Clancy's The Division, and Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 featured on my channel.
I'm a console gamer, my channel will mostly feature content showcasing PlayStation game titles. As stated above, I play RPG games. So if you are into games like Fifa 15, COD Black Ops III, Mortal Kombat, Forza, and things of that nature then my channel probably won't interest you. But if you are into games like Dragon Quest Heroes, Final Fantasy Type 0 or World Of Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts 2.8, Dark Souls III, or Disgaea 5 then my channel would be a good fit for you. As I will be uploading content for all the above titles in the future (you can see a full playthrough of Disgaea 5: Alliance Of Vengeance on my YouTube channel now @ www.youtube.com/c/ScarLionheart). And even further in the future, I'll be doing Walkthroughs | Full guides of Japanese titles on my channel once I'm more fluent in Japanese, as I am currently learning the language. Hopefully, by doing these Japanese Walkthroughs I'll be able to get some more games brought overseas to the Americas, that is a goal of mine. That would be what my channel has, and will have to offer later down the line. As well as what makes my channel different. It's different because I have a focus, and I will never break that focus. The point of my channel is to showcase games not everyone may be familiar with, as well as to showcase games I like. Once I'm able to add commentary to my videos I'll start doing walkthroughs and trophy guides, and eventually walkthroughs of Japanese titles.
That's who Scar Lionheart is, and why I would like for people to subscribe to my channel.
Fair enough Mr. Lionheart, you have a lot of "Heart" and I look forward to seeing your channel grow. May you be successful in all your endeavors.
